Twins

In the land of most people only having one child, our three kids stand out a lot (nevermind the fact they are white, blue eyed and brown haired). Many times, the only way for the people here to have more than one child is if they have twins. HG and Hud are about the same size now so many people ask if they are twins. We say no and that Hudson is 5. Of course, he towers over most 5 year olds here (and six year olds for that matter), so people are amazed. Anyway, here is a shot of our "twins".

Tibetan Dinner

We ran into a group of students from Ole Miss and were invited to eat dinner with them at an awesome Tibetan restaurant about a half mile from our house. Here are some highlights...

I saw something before we came to China that said that the lack of clean drinking water kills more people everyday than anything else. Also, it would cost 10 billion dollars to make clean water available to every person on this planet. (I got these numbers from adventconspiracy.org) Anyway, all of this was happening during the bailout of America and the number they were throwing around was 700 billion dollars. That is quite a lot.

So, I have had these numbers rumbling about in my head for almost two months and was sitting there and thinking, for only 1.4% of the bailout, the entire world could have clean water. Only 1.4%! That is probably what the heads of some of these companies are hiding away for their family vacations. My thought was, "Why can't our country give just 1.4% to save lives while they give 98.6% to help struggling companies?"

I kinda grumbled about greed and politics and big business for a while. And then I heard a voice ask, "Where's your 1.4%?" Well, um, the, but, you know, I. No real answer. "Why do you expect that others should give what you aren't willing to give?" This really hit home. I really can't expect anyone or anything or organization to do something that I am not willing to do. And maybe it isn't even what I am willing to do, but what I am actually doing.
